In 41 Hours . . .

I'll get on a plane for the following 14 hours! Then I'll be in Taipei for 3 hours and then back on a plane for 5 more hours! YIKES!

But then I get to be here:

and here

and here:

and here:

So I think the plane ride will be worth it. Don't you?

Around the House

It's amazing the fun and pretty things around my house that I stopped appreciating. I've taken sort of a photo diary of a few of my favorite sights in my little home.

These herbs (Basil, Parsley, Chives and Oregano) are the first plants I've ever planted from a seed and they are actually growing despite my black thumb! They're troopers too. I didn't know you were supposed to water seeds, until my husband told me that yes, you water seeds to make them grow. (Believe me about the black thumb now?)

This is the tree outside our window, and it's been blooming and smells so lovely!

I love this lamp. $6 at a thrift store, and my grey goose ($12 at anthro) and my Lady and Sons Cookbook (groupon) on my favorite side table (thrift store $10). I also love a good deal, can you tell?

This is the wall next to my bed and I just love it. Two pics from our wedding, some handmade embroidery hoops (yep a mustache to commemorate when H had a fancy 'stache), the S that I covered and adorned and some thrift store silhouettes.

What things do you have around your house that maybe you don't even notice any more, but that you treasure?

Weekend Wonders

Don't you love weekends that strike the perfect balance? This was one of those weekends, but I'll let some pictures tell you about it:

Saturday morning was spent painting my sister's kitchen this lovely shade of blue. I also realized I had never sat on top of a refridgerator. Here I am, 28 years old, and this is my first experience from the top of a fridge.

My brother and his wife and kids came over Saturday night for a bbq and s'mores. Maddie had a grand time with her uncle Hans. Here she is with the bag I made her a while ago. It's her travel toy bag. I printed "a dolphin and a whale in the water" on the top. That was her first sentence (I believe) and now she's quite the chatterbox.

Here she is playing hide and seek, her new favorite game with her uncle Hans.

Here's Hans and I reading to Josephine (Left) and Madeleine (Right). These 2 are quickly becoming good friends. They were giggling together all day.
